2025 One Lap of america – Brakes Specialist Intern

Brake System Research:

I assisted in evaluating brake pad compatibility for BMW’s M Carbon Ceramic Brake system, focusing on thermal resistance, rotor wear, and performance consistency under race conditions. I also performed daily inspections of carbon-ceramic discs and pads to identify cracks, degradation, and abnormal wear patterns, helping ensure safe operation and reliable braking performance throughout the event.

Testing Support & Setup Optimization

Across testing and live event sessions, I supported performance improvements using lap-time review and driver feedback. This included identifying practical changes that improved vehicle behavior and confidence, such as the removal of 250 lbs. of interior weight to enhance acceleration and braking performance.

I also collaborated with drivers on tuning parameters including rear wing angle, ride height, tire pressure, and brake modulation, gaining direct insight into how small adjustments can influence balance and controllability across diverse track types.
